Car showroom to replace a 'dilapidated eyesore'
A GRAFFITI covered eyesore will be demolished to make way for a new car showroom.
Maidenhead Honda has been given the go-ahead by the Royal Borough to demolish the former Total petrol garage on the A4 to make way for a single-storey showroom. Members of the Littlewick Green Society said the greenbelt site had become a dilapidated eyesore and are glad to see plans to develop it.
“It had fallen into a terrible state of disrepair after closing,” said society chairwoman Caroline Gardener.
“We’re really pleased to see the site is going to be tidied up and landscaped. It’ll be a huge improvement to the outlook of the village.”
TotalUK said it closed the garage down eight years ago, after more than 40 years of trading, because it was no longer profitable.
Littlewick Green Service Station opposite the site, bought the land in October 2010. Dealer principalIan Govier thanked residents and the society for supporting the application. “The site will have to be cleared and secured first, but we are talking to demolition companies.
“It’s going to take somewhere between 18 months and two years to complete the work, but we’re pleased we’ve been given permission to get started.”
The application was approved by the Royal Borough on August 24 using delegated powers.
